Today, I began sorting through and re-organizing our personal and professional contact list/business cards and address book (yes, I still keep a hard copy address book).
As I began sorting through the names, address, phone #'s and emails of those we have been connected to over the past decade or so, for one reason or the other, I realized that though we are still in touch with most everyone on our contact list/address book, there are those people/businesses/services that we are no longer connected to in anyway for any reason.
As I went name by name through the contacts, there were many times when I would stop and ask myself this question, "Are we really finished with these relationships/services?"
For some, the answer was an obvious and easy "yes" - and it was a simple thing to remove their name(s) and contact information. For others, it wasn't as easy or simple, even though it was obvious that it was time to say "Goodbye" and I found that in deleting their information it was good to let go.
When I came to our son, Kevin's contact information, where we added his new address as "Heaven," I was once again reminded that though I have had to say "goodbye for now" and I have released him into the presence of God, I never have to say a final "goodbye," because of God's redeeming grace through Jesus Christ, and one day we will enjoy an everlasting "Hello!"
Though my Summer project of updating our contact information is still in process (because I am easily distracted by summer fun and activities with family and friends), I will complete this To Do before Summer's end with a renewed sense that there truly is "a time and a season for everything under Heaven" and it is the "eternal" connections that I cherish most of all!
There are those who come in and out of our lives, and there are those who we will be forever connected to, because of the redemptive plan of God through Jesus Christ our Redeemer King! Our season together goes on and on and on . . . . and I am overwhelmed with praise and gratitude that we will never be deleted from God's contact list! Thank You, JESUS!
