"Up from the grave He arose, with a mighty triumph o'er His foes; He arose a victor from the dark doman; And He lives forever with His saints to reign; He arose, He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!"
This hymn written by Robert Lowry is a proclamation that Jesus triumphed over death and it is one of the hymns that I grew up singing with great joy and gratitude.
There are many songs and hymns that proclaim the reality of the Lordship of Jesus the Redeemer King and His power and victory over death and this is another of my favorites . . . "Christ the Lord has risen today, Hallelujah!" "I serve a risen Savior, He's in the world today, I know that He is living whatever men may say. I feel His hands of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer and everytime I need Him, He's always near. He lives! He lives!"
As I consider nature's proclamation of new birth, I also consider the reality that our son, Kevin, experienced an eternal "new birth" and that he now "lives forever" with Jesus and "His saints to reign" - Hallelujah! Though this promise and assurance does not take away the reality of how much we miss him, our family is comforted and strengthened by the hope of the resurrection that binds us together forever and ever.
With songs of resurrection and victory in my heart, I embrace the reality of "new life in Christ," and it feels so good to be coming out of the cold winter's solstice into the warmth of the promise of Spring. Though I'm facing 6 months of chemo treatments, as breast cancer is on the move again, this reality cannot rob me of my joy, because I know in my heart and soul that all of this is temporary, but Eternity is a happy-ever-after that has no end, unlike the seasons of our life.
With a Song in My Heart,
