The Gift!

The Christmas Season brings many blessings, but also something of the "blues" for those who have suffered loss, and it is often a difficult time for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one to enjoy the holidays in the same way before experiencing loss.

For me, though I still experience a measure of sadness in remembering those who are no longer here to celebrate with us, this is one of the seasons in my life, when my faith is enhanced and strengthened, and I find myself focusing on the "gift of Christmas," which is Eternal Life.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life." -John 3:16

I really like this Charlie Brown and Snoopy exchange, because someday "we will all die,"  and I so agree with Snoopy's perspective, especially in light of Eternity, because life itself is a gift.

Because of the recent reoccurence of breast cancer and that January 10, 2016 marks the 14th year since our son, Kevin, died, I know how important it is to focus not only on "all the other days we will not die," but also turns my eyes and heart toward Eternity, which is an amazing gift that is not wrapped in paper and bows or delivered by Santa, but birthed in the person of Jesus Christ, "born in a manger in Bethlehem" clothed in glory!

I accepted "the gift," when I was 8 years old, have you?  It is my hope and fervent prayer tha,  if you have not received the gift of eternal life through Jesus that you will not let another Christmas come and go without doing so. "Someday we will all die" and living "on all the other days" with Him is more amazing than we can imagine.

The gift of eternal life is free to anyone who will receive it in faith and it's a gift that comes wrapped in love and grace. Won't you open your heart and receive the best gift you will ever receive this Christmas? t's a gift that is given out of God's unfathomable love and grace and it will not wear out, rust or collect dust, but rather it will last FOREVER!

"Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift." 2 Corinthians 9:15

May the reflections and expressions of mothers' hearts be a source of comfort, help and encouragement and may you, like these moms, accept God's great exchange as "He gives beauty for ashes, joy for mourning, praise for the spirit of heaviness . . " Isaiah 61:3
